A higher wattage allows the iron to heat up quicker and maintain that heat during your ironing session

Continuous steam output in grams per minute. Higher output = quicker ironing

A short, powerful burst of steam to penetrate deep into creased or thick fabric

Weight of the hand iron without water. Heavier irons can be more stressful on your wrist over long ironing sessions

A ceramic soleplate will give the smoothest gliding and best scratch resistance. More expensive models might also have a special coating for even better performance

Higher water capacities will mean faster ironing with less time to stop and fill up, but can also increase the weight of hand irons

A longer cord gives greater flexibility, particularly when ironing large items. (For steam generators this figure is the cord length from the hand iron to base unit)

A safety feature that turns the iron off after a period of inactivity

Reduces limescale build-up in your iron to help prevent spitting and clogging of the steam holes

Standard manufacturers warranty period from time of purchase

In Detail

This is another mighty powerful steamer from the Bosch stable with 3050 watts of power - that's just about the maximum that's legally possible!

Red Flashes
(Almost) eschewing the usual black colour scheme that we usually expect from Bosch, this iron adds some flair in the guise of red side panels, top of handle and various red dials and buttons. These red flashes might account for the branding Edition Rosso, with Rosso being a popular colour for an Italian supercar. Sadly, this iron might be powerful, but it's no Ferrari :(

Super Power
Having said that, it does have some pretty supercar power with a continuous steam output of 50g per minute and a steam shot of 200g per minute to help flatten those creases. All those watts help in keeping the iron at the right temperature so that you can get through your ironing as quickly as possible and get back to your life.

King-size Omission
A long 3 metre cable gives maximum flexibility especially when ironing large items like that 'king-size' duvet, and look, the connection to the iron rotates around 360 degrees to help prevent tangling the cord. Like some of Bosch's other models though, they've been a bit stingy and left out the auto-off safety feature which is rather a 'king-size' omission.

Despite its lack of auto-off, the power on offer at a fairly reasonable price make this one for your shortlist. Especially if you've ever wanted a Ferrari - at least with this iron you are one step closer.
