A higher wattage allows the iron to heat up quicker and maintain that heat during your ironing session
Continuous steam output in grams per minute. Higher output = quicker ironing
A short, powerful burst of steam to penetrate deep into creased or thick fabric
Weight of the hand iron without water. Heavier irons can be more stressful on your wrist over long ironing sessions
A ceramic soleplate will give the smoothest gliding and best scratch resistance. More expensive models might also have a special coating for even better performance
Higher water capacities will mean faster ironing with less time to stop and fill up, but can also increase the weight of hand irons
A longer cord gives greater flexibility, particularly when ironing large items. (For steam generators this figure is the cord length from the hand iron to base unit)
A safety feature that turns the iron off after a period of inactivity
Reduces limescale build-up in your iron to help prevent spitting and clogging of the steam holes
Standard manufacturers warranty period from time of purchase
An excellent first steam generator iron with a lot more power than usual at this price”
Another great value steam generator from Morphy Richards, currently on a half price special offer (April 2019) when you buy direct from them - Amazon still want nearly £200!
There is the usual large water tank that seems to be Morphy's trademark though it's not as big as some others in the range.
The styling is a bit sleeker than usual though, and is reminiscent of a (more expensive) Philips or Tefal.
The steam output is delivered at a high 6 bar pressure and definitely not something often seen at this (special offer) price level. You usually only get 5 bar pressure on irons under £100.
Push button controls for steam level make it easy to use and a descale warning light will help you to keep limescale under control.
You can remove the water tank during use to refill - no waiting around for the iron to cool down first. On a medium steam setting you'll get around 40 minutes of ironing with a full tank.
The auto-off safety feature is great addition and will give extra peace of mind.
Overall good user feedback: they like the steam pressure, the lightweight iron and the ability to lock the iron to the base.
Some people thought the pump was noisy, and sometimes there was a delay between pressing the button and getting steam out.
It is a great first steam generator iron if you've not used one before, but to get so much power at this price makes it very good value for more experienced ironers too.
