Steam Irons

Designed for small ironing loads, a steam iron has an on-board water tank and a small element to heat the water and generate continuous steam, usually at a rate set by the user (called variable steam).

Steam irons can also give short bursts of steam to help remove more stubborn creases. Steam output is measured in grams per minute.

The higher the number of watts an iron has the quicker it can heat the water.

Irons with ceramic soleplates are the smoothest at gliding across fabric and have better stain resistance.

Most irons have some kind of anti scale system to prevent excessive limescale build up. This is especially important in hard water areas - limescale can reduce the effectiveness of the iron over time.
